Extruder Drive System


Extruder drive system usually consists of motor, gearbox and bearings. In the process of extrusion, the screw speed must be stable and cannot change with the change of screw load, so as to keep the quality of the products uniform. However, in different occasions, it is required that the screw speed can be changed to achieve the requirement that one machine can extrude different plastics or different products. Therefore, this part of the general use of AC rectifier motors, DC motors and other devices to achieve stepless speed change, the general screw speed of 10 ~ 100 rpm.




The function of extruder transmission system is to drive the screw and supply the torque and rotational speed required by the screw in the extrusion process, which usually consists of electric motor, reducer and bearings. In the structure is basically the same premise, reducer manufacturing cost is roughly proportional to its external dimensions and weight. Because the shape and weight of the reducer is large, it means that more material is consumed in manufacturing, and the bearings used are also larger, making the manufacturing cost increase.


The same screw diameter of the extruder, high-speed and efficient extruder than the conventional extruder consumes more energy, the motor power to double the corresponding increase in the number of reducer seat is necessary. But high screw speed means low reduction ratio. For the same size of reducer, low reduction ratio compared to large reduction ratio, the gear modulus increases, and the reducer's ability to withstand the load also increases. Therefore the increase in volume and weight of the reducer is not linearly proportional to the increase in motor power. If the extrusion volume is used as the denominator, divided by the weight of the reducer, the high-speed and high-efficiency extruder gets a small number, and the ordinary extruder gets a large number. In terms of unit output, the motor power of high speed and high efficiency extruder is small and the weight of reducer is small, which means that the manufacturing cost per unit output of high speed and high efficiency extruder is lower than that of ordinary extruder.
